Corien Prins

Corien Prins holds a degree in law as well as in Slavic languages and literature from Leiden University. In 1986, she started working as a researcher with the Department of Law and Informatics, Leiden University. In 1990, she defended in Leiden her doctoral thesis on computer program protection in the USSR (The Hague/Boston: Kluwer Law International, 1990). She continued her research with the Documentation Office for Central and East European Law at Leiden University. In 1993, she was a visiting professor at Hastings Law School, University of California, San Francisco, where she gave lectures on information technology law in the European Union.
In 1994, she was appointed Professor of Law and Informatization at Tilburg University. Here she heads the legal department of the Center for Law, Public Administration and Informatization. She is a member of the programme commission of the National Programme on Information Technology and Law (ITeR) of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). As of 1 September 2001, she has been a board member of the section on Societal Research ('Maatschappij en Gedragswetenschappen - MaGW') of the NWO. Corien Prins is co-editor-in-chief of The Electronic Communication Law Review (published by Kluwer Law International), co-editor-in-chief of the loose-leaf International Computer Law (published by Matthew Bender), chief editor of the Dutch publication Handboek Informatietechnologie (The Hague: Sdu) and a member of the editorial boards of other journals. She is also a member of the board of the Netherlands Association for Law and Information Technology. In Tilburg, Professor Prins teaches information technology law and comparative law on electronic commerce. Her present research topics include (international) regulatory questions concerning ICT, e-government issues, anonymity and privacy in relation to electronic commerce.
