Two new Dutch members of the Académie internationale de droit comparéOn 26 March 2002, the Académie internationale de droit comparé elected a number of new members and associate members. Two Dutch lawyers were elected associate members: prof. Maurits Barendrecht (Tilburg) and prof. Martijn Hesselink (Amsterdam). Prof. Esin Örücü (Rotterdam and Glasgow), who is of Turkish origin, was also elected. They join the three full members – Van Dunné, Hondius and Koopmans – and the seven associate members – Boele-Woelki, De Ly, Van Erp, De Groot, Hartkamp, Kokkini-Iatridou and Weeramantry – who work or used to work in the Netherlands. At present, the AIDC has eighty full members and a number of associate members, which is not limited by the academy’s constitution. The first meeting of the AIDC will take place in Brisbane, Australia, 10 to 15 July 2002. The Dutch division of the AIDC, the Netherlands Comparative Law Association, hopes to be able to organise the four-yearly congress in 2006. |
